These are New Pen Site Updates of the latest items\u00a0that have\u00a0to do with the Parker Pen Company.\u00a0 They are not all necessarily related to the Parker “51”, but should be of interest to the collector.\u00a0 I will eventually move the items to the different pages of the site.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A pre-production circa 1940\u00a0Parker\u00a0“51” set recently found “in the wild” in Washington state.\u00a0\u00a0Cordovan with smooth gold filled caps, brushed finished with polished bands.\u00a0 Caps are perfect, with nearly 100% of original finish and just some tarnish on pen cap lip.\u00a0 Both caps are imprinted at top with aluminum jewels.\u00a0 Sharply imprinted on blindcap, but with no date code.\u00a0 Cap on pen has the early 4-window long clutch.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A very early\u00a0near mint circa 1941\u00a0Parker\u00a0“51” “first year” set recently found “in the wild” in California.\u00a0\u00a0Green barrels, perfectly matched in colors, most likely made of the same lucite material.\u00a0 Early pencil with no gripping lines.\u00a0 Caps are the rare “watermelon” pattern in pink and yellow gold with raised\u00a0polished gold filled bands.\u00a0 Caps are perfect except for some tarnish under the pen clip, with\u00a0100% of original finish.\u00a0\u00a0Sharp 1st quarter 1941 imprint and aluminum jewels.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A\u00a0near mint circa 1944 Parker\u00a0“51” “Coronet” solid 14k yellow and pink gold set\u00a0 recently found “in the wild” in southern Illinois.\u00a0 Probably the rarest 51 pattern out there.\u00a0\u00a0Very few sets have been found in this stunning pattern.\u00a0 Set is as found, with single jewel pen barrel.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A\u00a0very rare, all original\u00a01943 Parker\u00a0“51” in hand hammered Sterling Silver recently found “in the wild” in\u00a0Ohio.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Not cataloged by Parker and often reproduced, it is a very hard cap to find and identify for the novice collector.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

A circa 1954 Parker\u00a0“51” prototype jotter ballpoint pen with forest green barrel and lustraloy cap.\u00a0\u00a0I found this pen at a recent show and my first reaction was “who made this?” until I saw the engraving on the cap.\u00a0 The cap states “IL-514, 2-25-54”.\u00a0 Obviously a machine shop model.\u00a0 Different from standard production, including the mechanism inside the cap.\u00a0 The barrel is longer than the “51” jotter and the cap is actually a size in between the full size and demi pencil caps. A circa 1948 Parker\u00a0“51” protype aerometric filler\u00a0fountain pen\u00a0with lustraloy cap and bright red barrel.\u00a0\u00a0This pen is the same size as the Parker “51” Vacumatic Demis and the caps are interchangeable.\u00a0 The bright red color never went into production.\u00a0 Note the unmarked filler shroud.\u00a0\u00a0(5\/11\/08)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

A Parker\u00a0VS fountain pen\u00a0with a clear amber barrel and solid ends.\u00a0 I recently acquired this pen as a curiosity and have shown it around with no solid leads as to what it is.\u00a0\u00a0(12\/7\/07)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

A Parker\u00a0“51” fountain pen\u00a0with a blue diamond on barrel.\u00a0\u00a0I have often heard that the early deskpens were sold as convertible to a pocket version.\u00a0\u00a0All the deskpens with a blue diamond on the barrel that I have seen never have a date code.\u00a0 This pocket pen is unusual in that it has a clear imprint with a 1945 date code. A standard\u00a0Parker Vacumatic with tape from dealer\u00a0stating “Here’s my pen for your retirement offer”.\u00a0\u00a0At one point during the Parker “51” promotion, Parker offered to take in your old Vacumatic in partial exchange for a new Parker “51”.\u00a0 The pen has no nib, so Parker must have at least removed that for scrap.\u00a0 (9\/4\/06)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The collector on top is completely translucent yellow, compared to a regular clear collector.\u00a0 A stained or ambered collector?\u00a0 The color seems too even and consistant to be so.\u00a0\u00a0I found it while doing a restoration on a “51” and it really jumps\u00a0out when first looked at.\u00a0 (9\/4\/06)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Last year I was able to locate the above Parker “51” first year pen.\u00a0 It is unique in that it is not Buckskin but a Mauve color with black specks, giving it a granite look.\u00a0 No, it is not discolored as the color is nice and even throughout, even under the cap.\u00a0 To my surprise, a collector brought to my attention\u00a0the above pencil, as he thought the color was strange.\u00a0 Guess what?\u00a0 It is a perfect match colorwise, and even has the same black specks!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

This pen came from\u00a0the\u00a0holdings of a retired Parker employee.\u00a0 It does not appear to be Parker production as the nib is marked “Delta”, but it is interesting that Parker was seriously looking at what other competitors were doing for fillers or maybe at how close the were copying the “51”.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
