Parker51.com was launched in December 2004. The site is an out growth of the admiration for the Parker “51” fountain pen, which I started collecting back in 1995. Parker51.com is a work in progress and will be updated as time permits. I attend most major pen shows held in the United States some European shows and sometimes some of the smaller regional shows as time allows. In addition to being an informative site, I sell a variety of pens and parts. I try to do new additions on a monthly basis, but don’t hold me to that, as sometimes other life activities get in the way. I am often asked where I get my pens from. A large portion of them come from the pen shows I attend, some I buy directly from collectors/accumulators that contact me through this website, and a smaller portion come from the “wild”, such as flea markets and antique dealers. I sometimes do buy and sell on Ebay under the name “erovira383”.
Because of the nature of the internet, I try extra hard to provide excellent service, be it answering questions, opinions as to value and/or finding that special pen. I truly appreciate the loyalty of repeat customers that I have had the opportunity of serving during the past few years. I am proud of my Ebay perfect feedback of 1,965 and counting as of this writing (10 Aug 2024), all positive and no negatives.
Parker51.com is hosted by Ernesto Soler, who along with his wife Nancy of 36 years live in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina
REPAIRS
Repairs are now handled by Tim Laros, who lives in the mountains just outside of Park City, Utah with Angela, his wife of 31 years. Tim is an avid skiier and mountain biker when he is not repairing pens in his workshop. He has been a dedicated, some say obsessed, Parker “51” collector for more than 26 years, specializing in the collection and study of First Year and Prototype “51s”.
Between Tim and Ernesto, parker51.com maintains a very large inventory of parts and can handle almost any repair for the Parker “51” fountain pen, mechanical pencil and jotter ballpoint. Tim uses original Parker repair procedures along with original Parker repair tools, as well as know how that he has acquired from former Parker employees.
GRADING
I make every effort to show clear images and short descriptions of pens. In general, all pens are in good condition, except as described. Sometimes I may miss a small flaw, although not too often. If the pen is not as described, I will refund your money and shipping.
Mint – pen in new condition as if you were the first to purchase the pen or as you would expect to see it when it was first offered for sale, never inked, most of the time known as “New Old Stock”
Near Mint – same as a mint pen, but it may have been dipped, filled and/or used for a minimal period of time
Excellent – minor signs of wear to the pen, its parts, its imprints and to the gold/silver filled trim
Very Good – a nice quality pen suitable for a collection or a daily “user”
